CSGO Game Review

by Hassan Bandesha

CSGO which stands for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is an online first-person shooter game. Developed by a collaboration between Hidden Path Entertainment and Welfare Corporations, the game was launched in 2012. Before this, the first counter-strike (commonly called counter-strike 1.6), the first in the series, was released in 2000.

The game was created by just two people from within the community. But, as the game slowly gained traction and popularity, Valve hired the creators. The games’ intellectual property was gained, and the company started the series’ development.

The game is the first of its kind. It is an online first-person shooter based game. There are two teams, where one team assumes the role of the terrorist and the other team takes up counter-terrorism. After selecting roles and positions, the two teams compete in a couple of varying game modes. Some of the most popular game modes currently leading the list are deathmatch, arms race, demolition, casual, and competitive.

The game has had its presence within the sports arena for many years and has a large following. The game requires pixel-perfect aim, quick reaction time, and vast map awareness. Map awareness is essential as players need to communicate with their teammates and strategically use the area. This allows the game to be perfect for professional broadcasting of tournaments and matches, and it also manages to have a massive loyal following.

Different Game Modes

The different game modes of CSGO are as follows:

Deathmatch

Here the two teams are pit against each other. Many skills need to be acquired for one team to be on the winning side of the game. The mode is no different for CSGO Accounts . After you pick your weapon, you have to start scoring kills. If you are shot and killed, you respawn at a completely different location on the map.

Demolition

This particular game mode is used when competitive matches are being played. Here, counter-terrorists and terrorist teams are given the objective of either defusing a bomb or planting one, respectively. The teams are 5 VS 5, and there is no respawn on death. If a member gets killed, he/she would have to wait until the end of the current game.

Even in this mode, killing a member of the opponent team will fetch the player a reward as they will be given new weapons and accessories such as grenades. The main goal of the terrorists is to plant the bomb. As the name suggests, the counter-terrorists have to kill all members of the enemy team and diffuse the bomb before the timer goes off. The game continues for ten rounds. After this, teams switch places. The team that wins 11 times is the ultimate victor.

Arms Race

In this mode, there are no teams. It is an individual against everyone else. One cannot pick their weapon, and the weapon assigned in the game is to be used. You can accumulate new weapons by acquiring kills with the assigned weapon. Finally, you will be given a knife. By humiliating your opponent and getting a kill, the victory is yours. The mode is very relaxed is excellent for warming up or for fun with friends.

Casual

In this game mode, the matches occur between two teams of 10 players each. The counter-terrorist have to either rescue hostages or defuse the bomb. The game mode is limited to 15 rounds and the first team to win eight rounds will win the match at the end. In this mode, you can earn money that can be used to buy equipment and weapons at the start of every new round. This game mode also uses a matchmaking system. Two equally skilled players will be matched with each other according to their rank.

Competitive

This mode is where the real action begins. This game mode can only be played by people who have reached a certain rank as per their level of experience. You can achieve the required rank by playing other modes. The ranking system in this mode is different from others. There are 18 ranks in total, out of which the highest rank is Global Elite. Less than 1% of the player base have been able to get this prestigious rank, and thus, it is an achievement.

The mode is somewhat similar to demolition. The main difference is, you need to collect money in each round by killing opponents and going for the objectives. This money can be used at the start of each round to buy weapons and equipment.
